The infamous oil crisis triggered a veritable \u201cback-to-nature\u201d craze. Stimulated by the banging performances of Eddy Merckx, the man who taught his people how to ride a bicycle, cycling touring clubs shot up like mushrooms in the first half of the 1970s. It was back \u201cin\u201d to cycle through nature on your own.<\/p>\n
Thus in 1973, the WTC De Hoek cycling touring club in Rode was born. The first president was Henry \u201cStella\u201d Steenhouwer and the first secretary Julien Sergeys.<\/p>\n<\/div>
<\/div><\/div><\/div>Since its creation, our club has always managed to let the comradeship prevail.<\/p>\n
With our 4 groups, and each their pace, you can start young and build a long career within the club …<\/p>\n
After all these years, the success of WTC De Hoek can be measured by the number of club members, and by its own activities (both sportive and social).<\/p>\n
Without losing sight of the original goal : cycling in nature, with the integration into the associative life, including the necessary social contact.<\/p>\n<\/div>
